Log In Remember Me? Exhaust drone is that which is single chamber vs dual chamber flowmaster by harmonics- a soundwave generated which in essence takes the exhaust sound and sends it back up the exhaust system towards the engine and is released or transferred into the passenger compartment. Exhaust Noise in passenger compartment is what most people actually complain about.
While harmonics do play a contributive role, it is not the primary cause. Obviously, if the tip terminates at your door or immediately single chamber vs dual chamber flowmaster the passenger compartment, the sound level will be much greater at the exhaust discharge point than if the tip exits the rear of the single chamber vs dual chamber flowmaster, but this is common sense.
Assuming that there are no exhaust system leaks and isolators are correctly single chamber vs dual chamber flowmaster at all mounting points, warum frauen lieber single bleiben what is not acceptable by industry standards, is when an exhaust system has been installed correctly, exiting well past the passenger compartment to have substantial exhaust sound transfer into the passenger compartment at a level which does not allow a person to talk without raising their voice to well above ambient noise levels.
Whether you love to hear your engine roar which I warum frauen lieber single bleiben dostereo blast or have a conversation, this interfers with your ability to enjoy what you like. As previously noted by several others, there are 3 basic muffler designs, Absorption, Diffusion, and Chamber Resonatorno matter which one suits your ear best, the criteria for promoting unnecessary in-cabin noise is the same. Single chamber vs dual chamber flowmaster the oem location, 24" will fit fine, located at the head pipe, 30" will fit fine as well and eliminate almost any possibility of drone in this particular location due to the size, length and insulation qualities and yes, Allied does make units this long.
With regards to single chamber vs dual chamber flowmaster 5. Duel Tailpipes should be limited to no greater than 2. When you exceed these diameters, it now becomes a contributor.
length in general should be as short as possible, minimal bends, etc, terminating past the axle, 1. Pipe diameter reduction should occur before the muffler.
All of this is single chamber vs dual chamber flowmaster to a point. However, the ideal size of the pipe does depend on the engine. For example, a single 3" pipe may sound great with little or no drone on a 7. The pipe needs to be sized suitably to the single chamber vs dual chamber flowmaster that it is matched with. Single exhausts will have less tendency to drone because the act of merging the exhaust together tends to muffle the sound slightly, breaking the sound waves and causing a self canceling effect.
Most if this stuff is spot on. But the muffler itself, the materials and design does matter a lot. My mom has a Ford Aerostar, which we are parting out thank goodness, which has a Magnaflow muffler. It took two Magnaflow mufflers, a total of 32" of muffler to tone the sound level to an acceptable point. The harmonics of that engine, chassis, muffler combination single chamber vs dual chamber flowmaster obviously optimal for creating drone.
It drones under two specific conditions. It drones at idle, and it drones from to RPM. It is a straight through design single chamber vs dual chamber flowmaster the Magnaflow, has a low deep rumble, and yet not only does it not drone, it is about 2 decibels quieter than the stock muffler with smaller pipe.
The WickedFlow obviously uses more efficient sound absorbing material and better presents that material to the exhaust flowing through it. So design and materials do matter. There are many differences that can be taken into consideration.
That is why one person can use a muffler on one vehicle and have major problems with drone, and another person can use the same muffler on a slightly different vehicle and have no problems at all. The oversight i made with regards pipe diameter is not referencing engine size- I was thinking the V8 mod engines with only minor modifications ie mostly stock! Both of your comments are well supported and demonstrate how not to get ripped off! Single chamber vs dual chamber flowmaster Conanski, I am getting some mufflers for my truck soon and I am wondering about placement.
I thought I wanted to put them as far back to help cut down on the drown but now you got me wondering. I have a true duel setup with long tube headers and h pipe, I was going to add a couple of duel chamber mufflers to get a little more back pressure. I was going to try to put them in back by the spare tire to the tips to try to cut down on cackle and just clean it up.
BTW this is a great thread you guys got going. I noticed that too, shorter tailpipes seem to aggravate droning. Some claim to dump the exhaust and get no droning, but I would tend to agree that shorter tailpipes are more likely to produce drone.
Its still a complex recipe though, and many factors play a role. Good thread, I just thinking about my exhaust layout and been getting conflicting information as well as second guessing my orignal plan on which muffler I wanted to use. But over all good that this is a fresh topic, just did a search and it popped up at the top.
YI, based upon tipps zum flirten für jungs the responses, inquiries I have recieved, I modified the info to provide frau sucht mann über 50 further clarity. Going through the updated orignal post I am going to be going on about my planned exhaust setup. So this should cause no drone based off this. This will be a problem cause I will mount in the OEM location infront of the rear axles with about 3 - 4 inches of straight pipe before the curve up over the axle. But both mufflers will be situated on the floor directly under the rear seat or where the rear passengers feet are.
So my tail pipes would be a contributor to exhaust drone due to the size but the length though of pipe between the muffler and where it will exit at the sides I believe is right around if not slightly more than 3 feet. looking at all this I would probably experiance some exhaust drone but I wont mind long as its not insanely loud.
I dont mind having loud if I step on the throttle but cruising at a steady speed like on the highway I am shooting for exhaust that goes quiet. Currently the 28" I think thats what it is thrush glass pack which I jsut simply slipped over my current exhaust pipe half the glass pack is slipped over the end of the pipe, was a quick fix since I didnt plan on keeping the stock exhaust and with the dual cats the exhaust has a drone but my radio is able to take it out but the drone is at rpm and again at 2, rpm or so.
Rider in the rear seat talked about feeling and hearing vibrations below them from the muffler but the muffler is mounted up against the floor pan in my quick fix. But if anyone has any suggestions on the layout I listed above Ill listen.
Not an expert on exhaust but I do know what I want and I did size the exhaust based off the size for my displacement based off power output and this should be good for up to - hp. I would go with a larger boddy muffler. Go for at least an 18" body to control drone. The 18" WickedFlows are excellent at controlling drone. Originally Posted by KhanTyranitar. I think the farther back the better for reducing the droneing. Thats why I believe most newer vehicles have the mufflers at the rear of the car.
Another I think is true is that it does matter quite a bit which muffler choose. From everything I have seen, chambered single chamber vs dual chamber flowmaster like Flowmaster drone excessively inside the vehicle, weather it be an F or a Mustang. Magnaflow or similar straight through mufflers can create some droning on some vehicles.
Having tail pipes that exit out the rear helps reduce droning. Side exit behind the tire is almost as good. Side exit in front of the tire can make it worse. Having turndowns is by far the worst, short of no tailpipe at all. I know that not everyone defines droning the same way. I say there is a difference between interior noise and droning. I say mild interior noise is acceptable and droning is not. My thoughts are if you feel that any interior noise is unacceptable, then just keep the stock muffler.
